On April 18, 2013, at 10 PM EST, I will be making my television debut on A&E’s new true crime documentary entitled, “The Killer Speaks. (http://www.aetv.com/the-killer-speaks/)” The new series delves into the crimes of one particular murderer, what they did, what the motives (if any) were and how it ended. Unlike other true crime shows, the killer is interviewed and answers questions related to the crimes.
This episode is about Maksim Gelman and his 28 hour rampage across two counties of New York City that left four dead and several wounded in February 2011. Dubbed “Mad Maks” by the media, Gelman left a path of destruction that ruined lives and left an enire city on edge. “Mad Maks” was finally stopped by a brave passenger on a subway car that he had already attacked.
I was asked to be the law enforcement investigations expert whose role in the show was to walk the viewers through what the bloody crime scenes would have looked like as well has how the police operate during the “hunt” for a known perpetrator. Gelman worked his way across Brooklyn almost hiding in plain sight and always staying one step ahead of the cops. The NYPD was close a few times, but was unable to apprehend him.
